Amazon will shift how it pays for compute usage of Anthropic's models from "compute hours" to the number of "tokens" processed, starting in 2027, according to a report. Because Claude models power many of Amazon's high-volume AI products, the change could substantially raise Amazon's costs. The new arrangement is expected to take effect next year, the report says.
