Andrej Karpathy has released a GitHub Gist describing "LLM Wiki," a pattern that turns a local folder of Markdown notes — an Obsidian vault — into a persistent knowledge base that an LLM automatically reads, organizes and updates. The gist he published in early April 2026 is designed as an "idea file" that users paste into Claude Code (Anthropic's mode for using Claude as a file-capable agent) to co-build a concrete vault structure and set of rules. Karpathy frames Obsidian as the "IDE," the LLM as the "programmer," and the wiki as the "codebase."
