A new company, Noetra, led by SoftBank, NEC, Sony Group and Honda, has been selected in a NEDO public tender and will develop a home-grown foundation model together with AIST. More than 40 companies, mostly manufacturers, are investing, and the government plans roughly 1 trillion yen in support over five years from fiscal 2026.
