OpenAI Pins Down Data-Infra Crashes, Fixes 18-Year-Old libunwind Bug

OpenAI says it investigated a year's worth of crashes in "Rockset," the internal infrastructure that powers ChatGPT's data processing, and identified and fixed two independent causes: a hardware failure on a single physical host on Azure, and a race condition bug that had lurked for more than 18 years in the open-source library GNU libunwind, according to its official blog (published June 30, 2026).
