Wix-owned Base44 ships its own LLM, Base 1, into production

Base44, the Wix-owned vibe coding platform, has unveiled its own proprietary LLM, Base 1, and pushed it into production. The company fine-tuned an open-source foundation model in-house for app development, offering it as a general-purpose AI agent that handles conversation, coding, tool use and backend operations. It is being rolled out to users gradually, and within the platform's model picker, Base 1 is selected automatically when it has the edge. Wix's official announcement frames it as the first proprietary LLM from an app-creation platform.
