California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Anthropic announced a partnership on June 29, 2026, letting state agencies and local governments use the AI assistant Claude at half the standard price. It is the first arrangement of its kind to offer such a discount to state agencies and localities, bundled with free workforce training and technical support from Anthropic developers. According to the official announcement, access will be centralized for all agencies through the SITeS portal run by the California Department of Technology, and local governments such as cities and counties can also use the same 50% discount.
