Anthropic on June 30, 2026 unveiled Claude Sonnet 5, the latest version of its mid-tier model, and began rolling it out the same day across all Claude.ai plans, the API, and major cloud and developer platforms. The successor to Sonnet 4.6, the company calls it its "most agentic Sonnet yet." According to the official announcement, the model is available on the Claude.ai web, iOS and Android apps, Claude Code, and the API (Platform), as well as through Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Foundry and GitHub Copilot. It is set as the default model on the Free and Pro plans, and Max, Team and Enterprise users can switch to it immediately. It also reached general availability for GitHub Copilot, with a staged rollout.
