Samsung, SK Hynix to build two fabs each in $518B Korea chip push

Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have unveiled plans to build two new chip fabs each — four in total — in southwestern South Korea, as part of a national semiconductor initiative worth $518 billion (about 800 trillion won). The effort aims to meet surging AI memory demand and cement South Korea's standing as a global AI manufacturing hub.
